Preschool News

We have enjoyed another fantastic week of learning virtually and in Preschool!

This week our learning focused on significant and famous people and we were very excited to find out that our learning would be based around the famous author, Julia Donaldson. We looked at lots of the different stories that Julia Donaldson has written and we shared her stories, 'The Gruffalo' and 'Room on the Broom'.

To support out literacy development we have listened carefully to our stories. We have created a 'Wanted' poster of the Gruffalo, making sure that we describe him carefully, drawn a picture of our favourite character, drawn and recalled the beginning, middle and end of the story Room on the Broom and ended our week drawing somebody that is important to us.

We have enjoyed lots of activities to support our phonics skills, including, sound sprint, sound splat and continued with our daily Ruth Miskin sessions. To enhance our fine motor skills we have created marks, formed letters and written our names in gel and shaving foam and used water and paint brushes!

To develop our mathematics skills we have focused on counting on from a given number and then used these skills to help us count and find the total amount of two numbers. We all enjoyed playing our adding machine game on the computer.

We have also been quiz masters, enjoyed playing the game 'snake' on the computer, created our own hand print Gruffalo, sang along to the Gruffalo song and re told the story of The Gruffalo using puppets!

We have also enjoyed lots of free play with our friends
