Welcome back to a new year of PE!
We've hit the ground running and have begun our new units of work.
Year 1 have started their gymnastic unit on balancing and spinning on points and patches. They learned that points are the small parts of the body and patches are the large parts then they created sequences with balance, spin, balance.
Year 2 have begun their Space dance to the music Oxygene 4 by Jean Michele Jarre. They brainstormed space words and their associated movements and practised performing each movement to a count of 4.
Year 3 completed a gymnastics session this week but due to the hall being in use, for the rest of the term during their slot, they will start an Outdoor Adventurous Activity unit next week. They will focus on orienteering and team building. Please make sure they have leggings/jumpers/tracksuits as we will be outside.
Year 4 have made a start on their gymnastics unit. They have created short sequences involving balances and spins and paid particular attention to the quality of their work.
Year 5 have started their dance unit based on the Victorians. They brainstormed some ideas and created a short dance, to a count of 40, containing various characters and scenarios ranging from chimney sweeps to Queen Victoria.
Year 6 have started Health Related Fitness by learning about the various components such as power, speed, agility, cardiovascular endurance etc. They also completed a Joe Wicks Hiit session and began their shuttle run test.
There are still quite a few children without PE kits in school. Please make sure your child brings their kit on Monday and keeps it in school.
Have a lovely weekend.
