Year 3, welcome to your very well deserved half term break. Well done on completing a whole half term of home learning! This week, we have continued to enjoy Gangsta Granny and we are nearing the end of our story now. It's been so lovely to see so many of you listening to and enjoying the story like we do in class. It makes me feel like we are together as our year 3 family. This week, you have shone in your reading tasks, learning all about David Attenborough and his achievements, exploring the text of The Demon Dentist by David Walliams, learning about characters, word choices and what a front cover tells you about a book. You then finished our week with a book choice of book review, recording your reading for me to listen to or creating a reading den. I loved seeing them all thank you, you had so much fun!
This week also saw us reach the end of our Stone Trolls Talk 4 Writing unit and you worked up to writing your own story based on the work you have completed over the last two weeks and wow, you have impressed me SO much! It was so fantastic to read the adventures your trolls got up to and how you changed the story to make it your own. Throughout the week, you also developed your knowledge of adjectives, word banks, prepositions, creating ideas using boxing up and finally your amazing stories. Well done Year 3 from your very proud teacher.
In maths this week, you started your short unit on money, where you recapped recognising and the value of each coin and note we used. You added up amounts of money and converted pence to pounds. Alongside our lessons on money, you enjoyed a TT Rock Stars Battle and it was great to see so many of you enthusiastic and getting involved. Well done y3!
Your history lesson this week continued this week with learning about the Stone Age, about how they got food and how they were hunter gatherers. In science this week, you continued to learn all about magnets, this time focusing on compasses and maps. I really enjoyed these lesson and learnt lots, I hope you did too.
We even squeezed in an art lesson towards the end of the week and wow, you impressed me again! You drew a whale under a rainbow following a step by step video. They were fantastic, thank you for your hard work!
You got moving this week with a PE lesson on cricket and some other optional activities too, including cosmic kids mindfulness yoga.
I just want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to you all and a big extra thank you to all of you parents for completing a whole half term of home learning. The work has been fantastic to see and I appreciate just how much support you give to your children to help this take place.
Have a wonderful half term and a very well deserved break, parents and children!
