Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a busy and exciting final week of this half term in Year 3!
In Maths, we have begun our new unit on multiplication and division. We
started by revisiting the 2, 5 and 10 times tables to strengthen our recall
before moving on to learn the 4 times table. The children have been using
Numicon and Times Table songs to help consolidate their understanding and build
confidence. We are really impressed with their enthusiasm and growing fluency.
In English, we analysed a non-fiction information text, focusing on its
structure and layout. The children explored features such as headings,
subheadings, paragraphs and factual language. They have now begun planning
their own information texts all about giants, and we are looking forward to
seeing their fantastic ideas develop into completed pieces after half term.
During our class worship, we discussed climate change and reflected on
how we can be courageous advocates for our planet. The children shared
thoughtful ideas about how they can make positive changes both in school and at
home.
In RE, we explored the story of Queen Esther and discussed how she
bravely stood up and pushed for change. We linked this to our theme of
courageous advocacy, thinking about how we too can speak up to protect God’s
world and support others.
We hope you all have a wonderful half term break, enjoying special time
with friends and family. We look forward to welcoming the children back
refreshed and ready for the next half term.
Kind regards,
Mrs Roney and Miss Summerfield.
