This week in preschool we have continued our traditional tale theme reading different traditional stories such as 'Little Red Riding Hood' and 'The Little Red Hen'. We finished story mapping the story of the 'Three Little Pigs' and we had a great time in Helicpoter Stories with the children using some fantastic story structure and plenty of characters from our traditional tales.

In maths we have been learning about the number 5. We have counted to 5 in different ways, collected groups of 5 objects and practiced writing the numeral 5. We have also worked hard sorting everyday objects by size, comparing big, little and medium sized things.

For our physical development this week we have been continuing with our scissor skills, cutting out buttons for Pete the Cat, using small scoops and pots in the sand inside and big ones outside. We also joined in with Sqiggle and Dough Gym. Outside we have been digging out our new growing patch with the children using spades, trowels and scoops.

The children have been singing, dancing, and acting on our new performace area, which was requested by them. They have enjoyed performing and acting as an audience to watch their friends.

As part of Children's mental health week we have we have listened to the 'Colour Monster Story', 'It's okay to be different' and sung along with '123 It's Good To Be Me'.On Thursday we learned how to power down our bodies to help with our listening skills and took part in a yoga session.

Next week we will be continuing to look at our feelings, talking about the people we love. We will be bringing our traditional tales theme to an end and continuing the number 5 with our rhyme of the week '5 Current Buns'
