Preschool News 28.04.22

Our first full week together has flown by.

We have continued to settle back into our rhythms and routines and have even managed to fit some small group time in too.

On Monday, we marked St.George's Day – please see our earlier post.

To support our communication and language development, we have read the story Jack and the Beanstalk and have explored the language within the story. During our planting activities throughout the week we have been introduced to new language, trowel, seed, compost, plant pot.

To support our understanding the world development, we have been planting bean seeds. We thought about what equipment we would need and developed a set of instructions to help us remember the steps to plant a seed. We have also planted seeds in clear bags and jars so we can observe the changes to our seeds.

During our literacy sessions, we listened to the story 'Jasper's Beanstalk' by Nick Butterworth. Then together we created a story map and used our talk for writing actions to help us to recall the story. We learned the days of the week song to help us sequence the days in the story. For our writing activity, we drew a picture of the characters from the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and our older children have been tracing their names and working hard to from letters within their name.

During our free play or as we call it 'busy time', we have created obstacle courses, shown of our jumping skills, travelled to the seaside and had a glass of coke in the pub, built castles, chased dragons, drawn pictures and generally had lots of fun with our friends.
