Preschool News 17.03.23

This week in preschool we have been continuing with our Dinosaur theme. This week we have looked at the things scientists have learnt about dinosaurs from their fossils. We have carefully looked at some fossils and rocks, made our own salt dough fossils and dripped water onto icy dinosaur eggs to reveal frozen dinosaurs. We have also practiced our scissor skills, cutting and sticking dinosaur bones to make a skeleton.

In maths we have made tally marks to record our favourite colours, with the children becoming very engaged, walking around the classroom asking their friends what their favourite colour is. 

Our sound this week has been 's' the children have again made some excellent 'silly 's' soup'.
We have finished our story map of 'The Little Green Dinosaur', the children are now very good at re-telling this story!

In our Heartsmart sessions we have played two games this week, practicing our listening skills as robots following instructions, and learning how to show kindness to our friends in the dice game.

The children had a special visitor on Thursday who taught them how to say "Ich bin ..." (I am) and taught us a "tschuss" (goodbye) song in german.  

The children have been continuing to play with the puppet theater, making up their own stories and moving preschool furniture around to make plenty of seeting for the audience!

Outside we have started to spot the first signs of spring in the preschool garden, with our daffodils just begining to flower.
The children have been enjoying bouncing along on the space hoppers, playing in the builders, mud kitchen and sand. 
On Friday we took advantage of the lovely weather and played on the climbing trail, and with the large parachute outdoors.  

Next week we are going ot be looking at how we can protect our environment by not dropping litter and recycling, and we are going to be looking for further signs of spring.
