Preschool News 12.1.24

Welcome back to Preschool everybody! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

This week in preschool we have started our new theme 'Time Travelers and Space' We have also begun to look at the season of Winter.

We have introduced our first story of the theme 'Whatever Next !" by Jill Murphy. The children enjoyed learning about Baby Bears adventure to space, they then used recycled boxes to make their own space rockets. We talked about what they wanted to make and what they needed to use to make their models.

Our rhyme of the week has been 'Zoom Zoom Zoom we're going to the moon' with then children trying really hard to count back from 5 before Blast Off!

This week's maths focus has been recapping the number 1. The older children learned different ways to represent the number and practiced writing it on white boards.

For our well being session this week we talked about who was important to us and why and we then practiced our 'candle and flower' breathing, taking deep breaths in and blowing them out.

Our younger children have been playing lots of circle time games, getting to know their new friends and have enjoyed our red colour of the week activity.

On Friday the children started to learn some 'space' facts, they became the planets lined up next to the sun.

We also enjoyed a session of 'Sticky kids' exercise moving around in different ways and at different speeds.

Next week we will be recapping number 2, learning some facts about winter and making some winter art.
