Preschool News 06.01.23

We would like to give a big welcome back to all of our preschool families, and a special hello to all of the new families who have joined us this term.

The children have settled back into preschool really well, it has been lovely to see them all and to hear about the lovely times they had over the Christmas Holidays.

This week in preschool we have been settling back into our rhymns and routines and have started our new themes of Time Travellers and Traditional Tales. The children have all enjoyed catching up with and playing with thier friends.

We have been looking at, and investigating the changes from autumn to winter, and we have been discussing how animals, adapt to the colder weather.

We have enjoyed lots of winter themed stories, the poem 'Cold' by Shirley Hughes and plenty of books from our favourite book basket.

In rhyme time this week we have been practicing our familiar rhymes using our rhyme spoons, next week we will be learning a new number rhyme.

The children have worked hard to count out the correct number of buttons for the snow men in our maths focus this week and have also been playing a cirle game, taking turns to roll the dice to a friend and count the number of spots.

In our outdoor area the children have been working in our builders yard, mixing and pouring in the mud kitchen and playing chasing games with streamers in the windy weather.

Next week we will be introducing out talk for writing story 'The Three Little Pigs', building with different materials and drawing pictures of our families in our HeartSmart session.
