This week in preschool we have been enjoying exploring the frozen and frosty outdoor environment. We have been on a learning walk around the school grounds where the children were very excited to see the moon shining in the clear frosty sky.
The children crunched over the frozen leaves and grass, and explored bowls and trays of ice in our outdoor area. We brought some of these inside and the children then tried ice painting with watercolours.

This week we have introduced our traditional tale 'The gingerbread man'. We have listened to the story, played with gingerbread playdough and decorated our own gingerbread men.

We have also carried on with our transport theme, looking at different ways to travel through the air, with the children choosing their favourites, airplanes, helicopters, hot air balloons and even space rockets.

In our Heartsmart session we talked about how it is kind to look after the animals that visit our gardens, the children used their number skills to count out cereal hoops and their fine motor skills to thread them onto pipe cleaners. Boris says 'Looking after others makes our hearts grow bigger'

We were visited by some of our January starters on Wednesday, it was lovely to meet you and we are looking forward to you joining us

On Thursday we celebrated St Andrew's day, we painted Scottish flags, threaded our own tartan patterns and danced a Highland fling.

Finally on Friday Christmas arrived in preschool, the children worked very hard decorating our tree!

Next week we will be enjoying lots of Christmas crafts and we will be practicing our Nativity songs.
