What can I say Year 6... you have worked your socks off and I am extremely proud of you all! We have had a busy week preparing for SATs and we have also enjoyed our down time outside.

Our week has been heavily focused on SATs preparations in all areas of our learning.

We completed our algebra unit and then turned our attention to ratio and proportion. We have simplified ratio using common factors, we have used ratio to find values and we have used ratio to find the proportion of a value too. We have also tackled two past SATs papers under timed conditions and of course many of my children have stayed to access my booster sessions. Well done Year 6. We finished our week off enjoying some TT Rock Star fun on our iPads. New maths.co.uk homework has been set.

Our English lessons this week have focused on grammar and punctuation. We have revisited modal verbs, determiners, commands, statements, questions and the use of commas within parenthesis. We have also completed a past SATs paper and revisited the questions that caused us concern. New spag.com homework has been set.

Our spellings have focused on silent letters and how to say words in a funny way to help with our spelling choices. We have also completed a past SATs spelling paper.

During book club this week, we have worked our way through different texts and answered questions as carefully and accurately as we can. We have reviewed our answers and supported each other with top tips. We have also completed a past SATs paper which will now be marked and reviewed next week.

During some of our afternoons, we have completed studywork pages to show off our brilliant work. We have worked on our computing page and set up one of our art pages. We will continue to publish our work as the weeks go on.

We have managed to fit in a science lesson this week to complete our Living Things and their Habitats unit. Using our insect findings from last week we created top trump cards as a table team. We will begin a new unit next week.

We are becoming playscript writers in RE at the moment as we retell the story of Rama and Sita. We are sharing the message of good overcoming evil in this Hindu story.

In computing, we have enjoyed time on Interland which has taken us through some e-safety choices.

We have enjoyed two PE lessons this week.

We began our new music unit for the summer term. We will be learning to sing 'You've Got A Friend' by Carole King. First of all, we listened to the song and discussed our thoughts. We spoke about how it made us feel, if we liked it or not, what instruments we could hear and if the song reminded us of anything. After doing our breathing exercises, we practised singing two verses and the chorus.

We have enjoyed time in the sunshine with our buddies today. We have rolled down little hills, climbed on the adventure trail and slid down the slides on Fort Lewis. Our time we spend with our buddies is precious and something we never want to miss.

I have now booked GoApe for our end of year treat. Thank you for your quick responses as this enabled me to secure Monday 18th July 2022. I will be in touch with further details in due course.

Roberts Bakery are joining Year 6 next Friday for a day of baking. If you can bring in your own apron, please do.

I hope you all have a wonderful bank holiday weekend.
Your teacher,

Mrs. B.
