We have tackled so many learning activities this week and worked so hard, even in the hot weather. Well done Year 6. You are all super stars.

We have continued to work on our projects in maths. We have completed our initial costings and draft plan and now we are working on promoting our park by generating a colourful brochure. Next week we need to think about running costs and tickets prices.

Our short English unit has come to an end this week with our hot writes. We have used speech to move the action on and thought carefully about characterisation using different speech tags. I can't wait to read them and check our class targets.

We have spent some time this week putting our Courageous Advocacy worship together. My children have written their own activities and we have presented them to our buddies. Year 6 have then gone on to write their own words for our worship too. We thoroughly enjoyed presenting our final class worship to you. Now we can begin to think about our Leavers Service.

We invited Mrs Pointon into our Geography lesson as she leads Geography across school and we wanted to present our campaigns to her. Our presenting skills were impressive and the facts presented were well researched. We definitely know how to save our planet.

We evaluated our DT structures this week and thought about how we could improve them if we were to make them again. I have to say that these are so impressive they could have been made by high school students.

We have enjoyed two Science lessons this week. One on healthy foods and the other on DNA. We used two pictures to consider the impact of different foods on the body and what surprised us about this information. We then went on to our summer unit which focused on inheritance. We made a new breed of dog using DNA strips and then used its features to decide which ones had come from which parent. The results were great fun to consider.

We continued to be creative in RE as we worked on our collages representing Diwali. They are filled with key features and are coming along nicely.

We have enjoyed our PE sessions and our Music and French lessons too. We have also taken part in Town Sports and showed just how fantastic our sporting skills are. We took part in the inter school swimming gala and... wait for it... took first place beating Pear Tree to the finishing post by 2 points.

We ended our week spending time with our buddies.

Our final activity of the week was to share our Courageous Advocacy with our parents. Thank you for joining us.

What can I say Y6? Your attitude to learning is spot on. You have all worked so hard and I hope you have had a brilliant weekend.

Your teacher,
Mrs B.
