Year 6 News of the Week 20.5.22

Another super week in Year 6. We have welcomed visitors into school and enjoyed our time together in class.

Our Maths project has begun as we split into teams of four. We have all taken on a roll, from architects to designers, from managing the budget to ensuring each meeting is recorded and kept on track. We have designed out theme parks and used our budget to decide what will go into each area. We have thought about our target market and named our park areas. We have also given our theme parks exciting names. We are now in the process of advertising our parks and will move onto their opening next week.

In English this week, we have begun a new unit of T4W. We are producing an informative piece on Skara Brae once we have learnt my model piece on the Romans. Our focus is on sentence signposts and subject specific language. We will be using our history knowledge on Skara Brae and further research too.

In Book Club this week we have returned to our big Cat books. I am in the process of listening to all my children read and reminding them to read as often as they can at home.

We have completed our RE unit on Diwali and we have enjoyed watching our Rama and Sita recordings.

We have welcomed PC Nick and the Fire Service into school this week.

Our preparations are under way for the Queens Jubilee. We have been researching the 1950's as each class has taken a decade to learn about. We are also learning a rock n roll song too.

We have continued with our science unit this week. We have learnt about the heart and its function. We will continue with this unit next week.

We have also taken part in two PE lessons and had fun in our TriKidz workshop.

We finished our week off by spending time with our buddies. Rain stopped play on the field, so we enjoyed some stories as a team.
