We have covered so many areas in our learning this week and I am proud of each and every one of you. Year 6 you are flying. Each day you work your way through our morning maths starters and mark them all before 9am, truly amazing!

This week in Maths we have continued to master the four operations. We have used squared and cubed numbers and then moved on to short and long multiplication. We have decided to spend next week during our starter time completing long multiplication calculations to consolidate our learning.

Our English focus this week has been on SpaG. We have added antonyms and punctuating speech to our spelling and grammar books so we can revisit these terms when completing our writing. We are building up our book content nicely. Well done Year 6. We have also used some of our English timings to run through our Harvest Worship.

During Book Club this week we have all read with an adult. We have enjoyed reading different articles in First News Newspapers and different magazines. We have also enjoyed story time during our Book Club sessions.

Our Spelling focus is still on suffixes that begin with a vowel. We have used words ending in e to understand how this letter is dropped before adding a vowel suffix. We will continue with our learning next week.

We continued our history research this week working on many different areas of WW2. Our war planes have taken to our classroom wall with just one smaller squadron to join them next week. Our Big Art represents the Battle of Britain well.

In our second History lesson, we began by creating a Morrison's shelter feel in the classroom by crawling under our classroom tables whilst the siren played. We created a black out feel by covering our tables with large black sheets and thought about how children would feel during an air rad. We spent some time reflecting upon our experience and completed a feelings activity using the role on the wall.

We have managed to squeeze in a DT lesson too this week. We have used our designs to create our templates and we have also begun to practise our different stitches using thread and Binka pieces. We will continue with this next week before moving on to our poppies.

In RE this week, we collected different Bible stories and thought about the teachings they had. What do these stories tell a Christian? We used different questions to help generate answers.

We caried on with Google slides this week as we worked in partners using the Chat option. We chose a country to think about and communicated using Chat to decide what information would go on each slide.

This week in Music we practised singing our harvest songs. We came together with Miss Holland to be service ready.

PE has taken place this week with both Kick and Mrs Whittingham.

Homework this week has taken on a different feel. We are thinking about wellbeing and sharing a worry.

We enjoyed presenting our Harvest Service to you on Friday and would just like to thank everyone for joining us at St Chads.

We enjoyed sharing a short worship in the company of our buddies and then went outside for daily mile time.

Well, how do we fit it all in Year 6? This is a good question and I'm sure as you read our weekly website updates you must think this too. Year 6 you are simply amazing.

Your teacher,
Mrs B.
