Y6 Top News of our Week 2.12.22

My website update this week is dedicated to our theme day. What a super day we had on Wednesday as we welcomed our VE celebrations into Y6. Your outfits, ration food baking and food contributions amazed us all. Thank you Y6.

We began our day by completing crosswords, word searches, plane drawings, solving codes and answering quiz questions. We then went on to think about the 8th of May 1945 – VE Day. We created table decorations by designing our own bunting for our afternoon tea. We went on to create a theatre in our classroom and then went on to enjoy the first hour of the National Theatre production of War Horse. We had a little time before lunch to catch up with the characters in our class book and we will try hard to finish it before Christmas.

After lunch and filled we excitement, we began the preparations for our grandparents' afternoon tea. The hall looked fabulous with all your hard work Y6. Well done. We welcomed our grandparents into the hall and served afternoon tea with pride. Your singing and dancing were well received, and I know how much your grandparents enjoyed dancing the waltz with you. Your rationed baking and food contributions were a complete success and looked delicious on each cake stand. Thank you for all your support and please pass on my thanks to all grandparents. Our VE day celebrations came to life as we danced and sang to our audience. Thank you to Mrs Jenkins who has taught Y6 their dances during PE, and to Miss Holland who has taught all the wartime songs during her music lessons.I must also thank Mrs Whittingham and Miss Tripp for all their help in making our day so memorable.

We were extremely proud to share our theme day and thank everyone for sparing the time to share the last moments of this term's topic.

Well done Y6. You are brilliant role models and many grandparents commented on how much they enjoyed our event.
