Another busy week has whizzed by and Christmas is certainty in the air! It's all very exciting. Even though Christmas is getting closer, we have still been working hard and learning lots.
In maths, we have been learning about improper and mixed number fractions. We have also been learning to convert between the two. In English, we finished our setting description narratives, and we have started looking into letter writing. You also learnt about possessive apostrophes this week in your SPaG lesson. In spellings, our focus has been the silent letter t whilst in Book Club we have been enjoying reading our own stories and completing comprehension tasks.
In our afternoon lessons, we have covered a variety of topics. In French, we learnt how to say and count in multiples of 10 from 0 to 100. In Geography, we learnt about where our clothes came from and how they are made; we learnt that Fair Trade also applies to non-food items such as cotton. For Computing, we planned our own videos which we are very excited about filming next week! In Science, you continued learning about life cycles, and your music lesson saw you developing your skills on the glockenspiels. In R.E this week, we considered the real meaning of Christmas and whether or celebrations reflect this. It was interesting to realise that many of the things we do – and the symbolism we use – to celebrate Christmas can be traced back to the nativity story. For DT, we have started making our automata toys. This week's focus was the decorative elements. Finally, in PE, we enjoyed a gym lesson where we got the apparatus out and used all the skills we have learnt in our previous lessons to perfect our routines.
I hope you're all have a fab weekend!
See you tomorrow,
