Our last week of 2022 has flown by in Year 4. It was lovely to share our KS2 Christmas Service on Tuesday. We were all very impressed by the way every class showcased the Christmas story with their amazing speaking skills and singing. Thank you to everyone who came to join us.
In Maths, our aim was to sharpen our multiplying by 9 skills. We used number lines to multiply and divide and we developed our x9 fact knowledge to answer a variety of problems.
Our time dedicated to English helped us to read aloud and create our own Viking Monster Hunter guide. We recapped the main features of our model text and took the time to use as much formal language as possible.
In Computing, we were tasked with a coding activity which tested our repeat code skills. We worked hard in our class team to help each other to solve as many coding problems as possible.
We enjoyed working practically in Science this week. Using the electrical components, we predicted whether a variety of circuits were complete or incomplete. Once our predictions were made, we tested each of the circuits to see if the bulb would light. We were also introduced to switches and we worked quickly to add them into a circuit. We learnt more about what a switch does and saw some examples of homemade switches.
We have also been working hard to create our catapult in DT. These will be completed off at the beginning of the next term.
We have also used our afternoon sessions to complete studywork.
On Wednesday, we started to feel very festive. The children watched a fantastic pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk and we enjoyed our Christmas lunch. On Friday, we ended our week with many fantastic activities from a Christmas quiz to our party and film. We hope the children had a wonderful last day.
We would like to end by saying a huge thank you for everyone's Christmas wishes, cards and gifts. It is greatly appreciate and we feel very blessed. We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, a wonderful Christmas break and a Happy New Year. We will look forward to seeing you in January.
Best wishes,
Mrs Pointon and Miss Welch
