We have been wonderful writers over the last fortnight. Our writer's knowledge checklist has helped us to include features like alliteration and prepositions. We have created paragraphs that describe how the Fox and Magpie are feeling. We have worked on planning the paragraphs well as we know that helps us when it comes to writing each paragraph. We then focused on putting our ideas into our paragraphs and completed our write for the story of Fox and Magpie. After Christmas, we will organise an author evening for parents to come and read our wonderful work! Watch this space.
Multiplication and Division has been our focus in maths. We have just started a unit to learn our 3,4, and 8 times table facts. We enjoyed using arrays and number lines to count up in steps.
As readers, we have been enjoying reading aloud and our spelling knowledge focused on the ly suffix.
In geography, we have concluded our unit by looking at the question where on earth are we, and used our new knowledge to answer this question. Our knowledge has really grown over the term, well done! We also used atlases to find places that have the same latitude and longitude as where we live.
Our PSHE learning within our unit, Don't forget to let love in, has given us the opportunity to think about what we are grateful for and why we are grateful. We came up with so many different ideas. This links to the bible quote, Praise the Lord! Thank the Lord because he is good. His love continues forever. Psalm 106:1.
As part of our Courageous Advocacy work, we took part in a sound mapping activity. This has really helped us to get to know our school grounds a place of nature. We rugged up and ventured outside to create a sound map. We used this opened ended task to listen to the sounds within our school. We talked to each other about what we could hear and thought about the sounds we found more enjoyable than others.
In Re, we continued to learn about Christmas. We recapped the Christmas story and the key people and events in the story. We acted it out and thought about how it must have felt to be preparing for the birth of Jesus. We thought about how we prepare for someone special to visit or a special event and how it feels when that special person arrives.
We enjoyed our theme day and you all looked wonderful as Romans! In forest school, our aim was to work as teams to create shelters for Roman soldiers. We also recapped our skeleton knowledge and compared human skeletons to those of different animals. We were surprised to find lots of similarities!
We continued to practise our Christmas service, we can't wait to show you next week.
