This week in Year 3 has been another busy one!

In English we worked on our plans for the explanation write, explaining to the Town Mayor our ideas to trap the Iron Man. Your ideas were fantastic! We then started to write the first two paragraphs, introducing our explanation and explaining the trap. I was really impressed with your attitude to writing and your focus. You have produced some excellent writing you are proud of. We enjoyed reading them to each other in the class. Once we have finished you have asked to share them with Year 6 who I know will be just as impressed as I am.
We also applied our sketching skills to drawing Iron Man for the front covers of your Iron Man approaching threat pieces of writing. We will continue to add detail and colour.

In SPaG, we have revisited using commas in a list. We rewrote sentences that contained too many 'and', replacing them with commas.

In spellings we have begun a new unit on adding the prefix re-.

In maths we continued on with our shape unit. We looked at vertices, lines of symmetry, comparing features of 3D shapes and angles. We also worked on applying our knowledge to reasoning style questions, with multi steps. Your attitude towards these again was fantastic, sharing your strategies with partners and table teams.

We have also continued playing Soundcheck on TT Rockstars. We're getting really fast and continually improving our scores.

In your computing lesson, you put all your hard work to the green screen! It was finally time to record your news reader segment, telling the world about the dangers of plastic in the ocean. You then chose your pictures for the green screen and next week we will add these together to make your short movies. I can't wait!

In your history lesson, we learnt all about the different tribes who came over to Britain to eventually form the Anglo Saxons. We learnt about where they came from, what they were called, when they came and where they invaded and settled.

In geography we completed our leaflets, promoting a coastal town or a country. We worked really hard in groups to produce informative and eye catching leaflets that would make people want to visit our place. We used our toolkit to check that we had all of the important information included. Well done year 3!

We have taken part in another cricket session with Harry from Chance to Shine, where we practised our previous skills and then moved into small games.

Have a lovely weekend.
