What a lovely week filled with sunshine!

In English this week we have been exploring our explaination text all about geothermal energy. You have all become pros at the first 3 paragraphs of our model text. You have explore new vocabulary such as Fossil fuels, Geothermal energy, Renewable energy, Alterative, Decay, Friction, Continental plates and Carbon footprint. We then explored the reason we need paragraphs and read through a text about Welsh Dragons and tried our best to decide where the paragraphs should go. You then sorted information about climate change into the correct paragraphs. Finally, you explored time fronted adverbials which tell you when something happens.

In maths, you finished off your fractions unit using all our skills to problem solve and answer trickier questions.

In Science you became personal trainers and created a tally for how much sugar your climate had on each day of the week and how much fruit they had each day.

In DT you create a food plate which allows you to have a healthy and balanced diet.

In Art, you painted your grey or red tree using water colours. Making sure for the brances we used a dark red by having little water and the background we using a light colour with lots of water on our brush.

We then looked at our next unit – Fake is a Mistake. In this unit, we will be looking at being ourselves and how pretending to be someone we are not, means we would be lying. Bible Reference – 'Love takes no pleasure in evil but rejoices over the truth.' 1 Corinthians 13:6

In PE you have focused on throwing and catching to improve our fielding skills. We began by bouncing and throwing the ball to ourselves and even added in some clapping to challenge ourselves. Then we moved into pairs to practise throwing and catching. Each time we threw and caught the ball we took a step further away from each other, if we dropped it we stayed in place. Finally, we played a variation of longball. We worked in small groups to try and throw the ball, from a small square, over fielders, and for it to land in the target zone. If we were successful, we scored a point, then we swapped places. Whoever scored the most points won.

In PE, you also continued your tennis unit. Looking at how we hold the tennis racket correctly. You then one of your threw the ball and your partner had to try and hit using the tennis racket. You then learnt the best way to serve a ball in a tennis rally and attempted to create a rally between yourself and your partner.

In mindfulness this week we had 10 minutes of relaxation and preformed belly breathing allowing our whole body to relax ready for the weekend!

You also explore afew different games as a class such as duck, duck, goose and what's the time Mr wolf.

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and are well rested for the wonderful week ahead!
