Y3 News 11.11.22

This week in maths you explored 3 digit numbers! You added them and subtracted them using the column method! You had to check if you were exchanging or not!

This week we spent time practicing our worship. You all impressed me so much with your confidence! Well done year 3.

In English, you looked wrote your cold write! Our next unit is to write a news report. In reading, we were exploring how breaks work by using the force of friction to slow an object down. You then looked at forces in sport and used a dictionary to find the definition of tricky words.

In my happy mind, this week we explored our character strengths and created a cape with our 3 main character strengths. We decorated this to fit our strengths.

In forest school this week, you recapped what we had learned about rocks and fossils. You all remembered the 3 main rocks so well! I was very impressed. Then you explored the different layers of soil by making a soil cake! You then became super diggers and got lots of soil. We sieved through the soil and found lots of plants and worms. But amazingly we found some old pottery and some rocks!

In RE this week we recapped the story of Jesus' birth and explored how everyone remembers the story slightly differently. We read the traditional story and thought about how it was different from our story.

Well, the Roman Numerals song really woke us up on Tuesday afternoon! Music, linked with maths this week. Within our lesson, we found the beat; focused on word syllables and joined in with the actions. We copied the numeral signs and sang along to this Roman song.

In PSHE, we explored the effects smoking has on our body.

In geography, you explored how post gets delivered somewhere by using addressed. You wrote down your own address of the schools address all the way to the universe and of course we had to make sure we included the postcode! We used google maps to find out what streets, villages, counties, countries and continents were north, south, east and west of Wybunbury Delves C of E Primary.
