Happy New Year year 3 and your families. We have settled into 2025 with lots of new learning! In maths, we have started a new unit all about multiplication and division. We started with investigating multiples of 10, recognising patterns and how our times table knowledge can help with times tables ten times bigger.
We started the week in English by writing up our Fox and Magpie stories into neat. We are hoping to create these into books so we can become real life authors and invite you all in to enjoy these in class. We then got stuck into our new class story! First of all, we looked into the illustrations and some clues, including a jar of water, branches and flowers. We have begun to gather our prediction ideas on the story using pictures and objects from the story.
In RE this week, we completed our last lesson all about being Called by God. We learnt about how people from other faiths have been called by God, with a focus on the Jewish faith leaders, the Rabbi. We learnt that Rabbis are teachers as well as leaders of the synagogue. We learnt about the kippah, the Torah and what happens in the synagogue. We also finished our art work off to show how Jesus impacted on others lives, including stories of healing and miracle stories from the Bible. We have worked also hard to talk about our learning in RE this week to then add our knowledge, thoughts and reflections onto our questful map.
This weeks well-being lesson asked the question What is important to you? You recorded your answers in your well-being journals. It was lovely to see answers about family, friends, pets, places and special items. This week's strategy for feeling calm was writing down how you feel in notes, poem, song, or comic strip.
In our Courageous Advocacy time, we have explored four famous people who have inspired our Courageous Advocacy group names. These are David Attenborough, Jane Goodall, Greta Thunberg and Poppy Okocha. We also worked carefully to plan our vision for our Nature Park by answering different questions like what would we like to see in our nature park. Our team work skills were wonderful to see.
In music this week, we practised our Weather Medley. A few songs were a bit tricky to sing. We persevered and made sure we listened, stayed focused, and worked as a team.
In P.E., we have learnt the rules of dodgeball. We played a short game to help understand the rules and then played some games that helped build our overarm throw and aiming accurately. As we played more games , we thought about the importance of being honest in a dodgeball match and we were also given an opportunity to watch others and give and receive feedback.
