Happy half term Y3 and your families! Let’s have a round up of the last two weeks.

In Maths, we worked hard to complete a reasoning task based on multiplication. We carefully calculated our answers and used the greater than, less than and equals symbols within number sentences. We have also begun practising our times table facts as a class activity. You have been ready to take part in a timed challenge which is a great achievement. You then worked on multiplication further, by multiplying two digit numbers by one digit numbers, with and without exchanging. You used lots of practical resources to help you with this and Mrs Parker was really impressed with your resilience to a new concept.

Our interfaith week task was to think about the messages within the Muslim folk tale called The story of Nasruddin and the banquet. We thought carefully about what wearing clothing means to us and how it makes us feel.We worked very carefully to get to know the story before sharing all of our reflections. It was a pleasure to share our learning with the rest of the school in worship on Friday.

In English, we finished our fable stories! After lots of vocab building, planning, role play and character work, the time came to show off and write away! It has been so lovely to read your stories, where you chose your own characters and planned your own versions of Fox. We edited using our special editor glasses, which help us to see our mistakes more clearly! We then got out the big class microphone and read our stories to each other. It was lovely to see everyone’s reactions to your ideas and see you become authors of your own stories. Well done Year 3, you are fantastic writers!

In our RE lesson, we had the enjoyable task to explore how St. Mother Teresa changed the lives of others. Did you know that she the same prayer each day? We thought about some of the important quotes Mother Teresa said, and worked hard to decide which quote we connected with most as we voted for our favourite. As a class our favourite quote was Peace begins with a smile.

In PSHE, we thought carefully about who is part of our community and what communities we belong to. We enjoyed thinking about all those people that help us in our school community. We have now come to the end of out unit – Too much Selfie isn't healthy so we were able to reflect on our learning and set ourselves some Heartsmart next steps.

We demonstrated such a great attitude within our Health and Safety Lesson this week. We learnt how to treat people who may have experienced a burn or scald. By the end of the lesson we were able to explain the difference between a burn and a scald and show what to do to help somebody. We even thought about what we could use if we didn't have access to running water or cling film.

Have a lovely half term, well deserved break. There is no new homework but there is a World Book Day activity to get involved with if you are feeling crafty! (See email)
