Our spring term 1 came to an end this week, and even though we only had three days, we made sure to pack in as much as we possibly could.
During our writing time this week, our focus was all about possessive apostrophes. We spent time learning when and where we use them, and how they look in our sentences. We played games, watched videos and had lots of practise creating our possessive apostrophe sentences. Well done, team!
In HeartSmart this week, our focus was all about the online world. We thought about how we can also be HeartSmart online, and how this helps us to become better people. We looked at a range of scenarios, and discussed how we would react to each of those. Do not abandon wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will keep you safe. Proverbs 4:6
In History, we continued to focus on the different eras of farming. We recapped the Stone Age, the birth of the machines (industrial revolution 1800s) and what farming looks like today. We displayed our knowledge through mind maps full of pictures and keywords. What a brilliant effort, team!
In R.E this week, we worked hard to answer our big question of salvation. We recapped our previous three stories and used these to help us think about what salvation means to Christians. You were all fantastic at thinking about the different messages, and how Christians believe that Jesus is their saviour.
We also welcomed our InterFaith visitors on Tuesday. We firstly listened to Matthew speak all about his Christian faith. We asked him lots of questions and learnt so much. We then listened to Michelle, who told us all about her life as a Jew. We asked questions, and saw lots of artefacts linked to the Jewish faith. Thank you!
For our Maths this week, we wrapped up our unit on measurement. We used our new knowledge of cm and metres to help us answer a range of word problems. We read each question carefully and thought about the best method to answer these. We also spent time improving our fluency skills. We used our daily 10 programme to answer a range of fluency problems throughout the week.
In Forest School, we completed our final session with Mr Hadfield. We celebrated all our learning, and thought about all the key skills we have learnt throughout the weeks. We built fires, improved our archery and made some fantastic flour based artwork. A huge thank you to Mr Hadfield for all his efforts this half term.
We also spent time this week working hard on our Study Work. We completed a Forest School page, Art page and our R.E page. They are looking fantastic!
Have fantastic half term,
Mr Dale
