This week Year 2 have shown resilience, determination and a bucket load of hard work. I'm so proud of you all.
We completed our SATS quizzes and I couldn't be prouder of each and every one of you. We worked incredibly hard, completing two maths and two reading assessments. Despite the challenges, you never gave up and showed great determination. Well done on your hard work!
Our love for reading continued to grow as we delved into a range of texts, including some of our challenge book selections. We embraced the opportunity to explore different genres and expand our vocabulary and understanding of word classes.
We also completed a range of Study Work activities this week. From our history page to perfecting our art page, it's been a busy week of ensuring our work is the best it can be.
In our history lessons, we made progress in our unit on "Why was Queen Elizabeth II so important?" This week, we focused on timelines, creating a timeline specifically for Queen Elizabeth II. We carefully considered and plotted the significant events that shaped her reign. Along the way, we learned important vocabulary such as decades, past, present, and significant.
As we wrapped up our coding unit in computing, we engaged with the exciting world of programming using Minecraft sprites. Through the Hour of Code platform, we applied our previous knowledge of coding concepts like repeated loops, debugging, and efficient coding strategies. It was a thrilling and rewarding experience.
During our My Happy Mind session, we continued to set ourselves goals for the week ahead. We emphasised the importance of setting achievable goals and eagerly await next week to see if we have accomplished them. Remember, every step forward is a step toward personal growth and success.
In our sports coaching session, we enthusiastically participated in diamond cricket once again. Through team-building games and activities, we honed our throwing, catching, and batting skills. We showcased great teamwork and sportsmanship throughout our energetic sessions.
On Friday, we celebrated our brilliant achievements and hard work from the week by indulging in a wellbeing morning. We enjoyed playing board games, cuddling our teddies, and basking in the glorious sunshine on our picnic blankets in the afternoon. It was a well-deserved moment of relaxation and enjoyment.
What a fantastic week filled with incredible accomplishments! Each and every one of you demonstrated dedication, resilience, and enthusiasm. Keep up the amazing work, Year 2!
Have a lovely, sunny weekend!
