What a fantastic last week we have had in Year 2. We filled our week full of Christmas activities, laughs and Study Work.
In our Study Work time this week, we looked back on all our fantastic forest school work. We completed some brilliant fire artwork and used some of our English time to write about our favourite moments and achievements in forest school. They look fantastic!
In Reading and Phonics we continued to recap key sounds, spellings and practised our comprehension skills throughout on Monday and Tuesday. We also completed our reading quiz. It was fantastic to see children using their reading skills to answer a number of different questions, well done!
In R.E, we started to complete our assessment piece. We started to answer the question: "What does the visit of the Magi tell Christians about the birth of Jesus?". We created a word cloud and a cover page via SeeSaw. We then started to write our scripts of what we were going to record for our answers. They are sounding amazing and we can record them the first week back after Christmas.
On Wednesday, we took part in our final Forest School session. We took part in a worm charming competition. You managed to find some huge worms! We also created a nature inspired advent calendar in our pairs! We finished by toasting marshmallows and firing our final arrows in archery. A huge thank you to Mr Hadfield, who has taught us all some fantastic skills over the last few weeks.
We had P.E on Friday. Natalie was amazed with the skills we displayed as we took part in a range of Christmas games and races.
Our HeartSmart lesson gave us the lovely opportunity of putting together our study work page. We spoke about the topics we have worked through this half-term and how important it is to celebrate our achievements. The page is looking good!
In our final D.T session, we all managed to create some fantastic fruit kebabs. We worked in pairs to recap our plans and the key hygiene rules we needed to follow. We then recapped the bridge cut and safely cut a range of different fruits. We managed to follow our plans carefully and you all showed great teamwork. At the end of the lesson, we evaluated our fruit kebabs and it was great to see you all using two stars and a wish to give feedback to different teams.
We also took part in worship throughout the week. Our favourite was definitely watching all of the nativity throughout the week. Pre-School, Reception and Year3/4 showed us the true meaning of Christmas through their fantastic versions of the Nativity story. We also loved listening to Y5/6 sing their carols on Thursday!
On Thursday, we took part in our party day! We played pass the parcel, scattergories, danced in our disco, played Crash Bandicoot on the Playstation and even shared Mr Dale's Pokemon cards. It was such great fun! We also celebrated Christmas by singing the 12 days of Christmas song outside as a whole school.
Thank you so much for all your kind gifts and cards. The whole Year 2 team would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
See you in the new year,
