Happy Weekend Team!

In English this week we have had a message from Tin Dog asking us to help get him out of the attic. We discussed how we were feeling knowing another friend is stuck lonely on the attic. We have written messages back to Tin Dog telling him we would help. We all got to bring in our own toys and then we imagined how we would feel if we lost them. We made lost posters for our toys!

In Math we have been using a part-whole models to work out sums. We have been writing number sums. Looking at fact families and finding all the ways a number sentence can be written. We then looked at number bonds of numbers to 10.

We were looking at the keyboard in computing this week. We had to get ourselves logged on to the laptops, this was tricky finding the keys because the laptop keys are in capital letters. Once we were logged in we used the skill click and drag on the mousepad to create a text box. We then worked in partners to write out names.

We looked at what we love about home in our wellbeing lessons. We draw pictures to represent this. We played guess who in heartsmart. "Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God" Philippians 1.3. We had to say why we were grateful for a person in our class. We had to guess who we were describing. We discussed how when we say who we are grateful we help to strengthen both our and their heart.

In PE we have carried on with fundamental skills. Lots of aiming, throwing and catching. We spent time following instructions and playing games.

We have been testing materials in science. We found out Roo had been playing in the garden and had got wet when it rained. We decided to make her an umbrella. We had to predict what the best material would be for an umbrella. We were testing three materials; paper, fabric and plastic. We put the materials over a jar and used a pipette to drop water onto the material. We had to count how many drops it took for our toy to become wet in the jar. We were putting water on the plastic for a really long time and our toys stayed dry so we decided the most suitable material to keep Roo dry would be plastic. After we concluded the best material would be plastic we looked at our predictions to see if we were correct. We then talked about why using glass or metal would not be a good idea for an umbrella. Everyone laughed and talked about how it would be really heavy and we listed the properties that would not work for an umbrella, not bendy, heavy and not flexible.

We were talking to animals this week in music! Only onscreen ones though unfortunately! Before listening to our song, we predicted which animals we thought we might see. Some animals really surprised us. We saw a narwhal flash across the screen! We loved it! Our onscreen character travelled from the jungle, to the desert – to the arctic. We impersonated the animals movements and sounds while moving to the beat. We had a lovely discussion about our own pets and how we talk to them. They really are our friends.

In RE we discussed everything we had previously learnt about the harvest. We looked at charities that help with harvest and how they put their faith into action. We said they put their faith into action by helping. They give to those in need and they support by teaching new strategies to make the harvest successful.

In Art we started making our creativity medals. Big thank you to all the parents that gave us resources to use. We had to draw our medals, cut them out and begin decorating them with different materials. We cannot wait to see what everyone's looks like finished.

Enjoy your weekend!
