Happy Sunday!

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. I will start by saying wow, what a week. Year one really outdid themselves at their class worship and I hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed performing.

In out English sessions we have been writing our own versions of the story where the wild things are. We have planned and written our Octopus openings and Build up Bears. So far there are so many great ideas and I cannot wait to find out how everyones stories end. We have been focusing on our -er, -ed, -ing suffixes and making sure we expand our sentences using and.

In maths we have been looking at weight and capacity, we have talked about what weight and capacity means. We have used different resources to record our ideas. Discussing appearance of objects and how just because something is bigger does not mean it weighs more. We looked the words full and empty, putting jugs of liquid in order of full to empty or empty to fullest.

In computing we have been looking at properties of objects. We labelled different objects, defining their properties; such as colour, shape and size. Then we all picked a colour and went on a properties hunt around the classroom, finding three objects eight the same properties.

In History we have been looking at how Chester Zoo has changed over the years. We discussed how the enclosures are different and how the zoo is more suited to the animals. We then looked at the maps of the zoo and how they had changed. We all had a go at drawing our own maps.

In our RE sessions we have been practising for our class worship, again we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. In our sessions we recalled what happens in the Easter Story. We used all of our understanding to create our very on Easter garden. First we put Jesus in the tomb, covered it with the rock. Then we talked about the rock moving and Jesus coming back from the dead. We then planted flowers around it and hope to see the new life growing. We are super proud of what we have made and all want to help in watering our garden.

During PE we have continued looking at Striking and fielding. We worked on throwing underarm using a target for the bounce, challenging ourselves when we needed by moving further away and reducing the size of the target. During our mini matches, worked on backing each other up when someone missed the ball and teamwork when fielding. We also had a little treat of going on the adventure playground, working on our climbing and balancing.

For science week Dr Wilmot came in to talk to year 1 about keeping our teeth clean. She read as a story about how we get bugs in our teeth and we have to brush them off to keep them healthy. We then used tooth paste to clean some dirty teeth. After we got to role play being dentist and looked at the different teeth. Thank you Dr Wilmot!

Everyone has worked so hard this week. Enjoy the rest ofyour weekend and I will see you all for the last four days of term.
