Wow, what a fantastic science week we have had!
We're thrilled to share the exciting highlights with you...

Understanding the World Development:Science Week brought us a special visitor, Mrs. Okulla, who enlightened us about her role as a radiographer. Exploring bones and understanding x-rays, we discovered fascinating facts – children have 300 bones, while adults only have 200!

As part of our dinosaur studies, we explored different theories on dinosaur extinction, culminating in a volcanic eruption experiment. Witnessing the eruption reinforced our scientific understanding of chemical reactions.

Our Questful RE journey continued as we delved deeper into why Christians believe Easter is a celebration of love. Through the story 'Clever Club and the Easter Surprise,' we grasped the poignant narrative of Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection.

Mathematical Development:This week, we delved deeper into subtraction, focusing on number bonds to 10. Using the part-part-whole model and counters, we mastered subtraction number bonds, following the missing part structure with confidence and precision.

Literacy Development: In our Ready Steady Write sessions, we immersed ourselves in the enchanting tale of 'Little Red,' demonstrating our comprehension by answering questions about characters, settings, using key phrases and words from the text. We enjoyed revisiting the story song and identified its four parts – the opening, build-up, problem, and ending.
Handwriting practice continued, focusing on the formation of down letters – h, b, r, j, and y.

Expressive Arts and Design:Linked to Science Week, we embarked on a creative endeavor to construct a volcano by recycling a bottle, cardboard, newspaper, and glue. Painting it brown and sponging red to represent molten lava, our volcano creation was a testament to our artistic flair.

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development:Our wellbeing sessions provided a platform for us to further explore our emotions and possible triggers. Together, we developed strategies to manage overwhelming emotions, empowering each other to navigate through challenging moments with resilience and grace.

Physical Development:Under the guidance of Coach James, our hockey skills flourished, culminating in an exhilarating short game. Making the most of our outdoor spaces, we challenged ourselves with the daily mile, building stamina and perseverance, and honed our core strength on the adventure playground.

Language and Communication Development:Our language and communication skills continued to thrive as we indulged in a rich tapestry of stories, rhymes, and songs throughout the week, fostering a love for language and literature.

Parents, thank you for your continued support and involvement in our learning journey in Reception Class. The dinosaur homework creations coming in this week have been fabulous!
Together, we're creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive and flourish.

Have a great weekend
