What an exhilarating week we've had in Reception Class as we witnessed the emergence of our beautiful butterflies from their pupae on day 10, just as we predicted!

To prepare them for their release into the garden, we provided them with nourishment in the form of fruit and sugary water, ensuring they had the strength they needed for their new journey.

In our literacy tasks, we wrote detailed accounts of the observations we made during this stage of their life cycle. We rehearsed our writing, carefully counted the words in our sentences, used Fred fingers to check for sounds, and remembered to use capital letters and full stops.
Reception Class, your independent writing was outstanding!

In our music session this week, we delved into the enchanting composition "Jupiter, The Bringer Of Jollity" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets Suite." We discovered that Holst had a deep fascination with astrology, which inspired him to create this musical masterpiece. With closed eyes, we embarked on a thrilling space adventure to Jupiter, immersing ourselves in the majestic melodies. We also revisited some of the beloved songs we've learned throughout the year, singing our hearts out to "Incy Wincey Spider," "The Grand Old Duke of York," and our favourite, "Big Bear Funk."

During our Heart Smart session, we learned the valuable lesson that with hard work and perseverance, we can achieve anything. Through an engaging game, we explored different future career possibilities, acting out various jobs and guessing each other's choices. Each child shared their aspirations, fostering a sense of ambition and determination. Boris reminds us that we can accomplish great things when we work hard and never give up.

In our mathematical learning, we further developed our understanding of shapes by building upon last week's knowledge of composing and decomposing shapes. Through practical activities, we explored the attributes of shapes, including their size, shape, length, and number of corners or points. We combined objects creatively to demonstrate different examples of shapes, enhancing our spatial reasoning skills.

Lastly, it was an absolute delight to see so many of our families cheering us on during Sports Day! We had a fantastic time competing in various events, including obstacle courses, bean bag races, egg and spoon races, and sprints. However, the true highlight was the incredible sportsmanship displayed by Reception Class. You supported and encouraged one another, showing great camaraderie and making us all proud of your achievements this week.

Keep up the amazing work, Reception Class!
