Celebrating Community Action: The Big Plastic Count 2024!
A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for your enthusiastic participation in the Big Plastic Count 2024. Your tremendous response and dedication to this cause have been truly inspiring.
After meticulously inputting all the returned tally sheets, we are pleased to share that our school community's plastic footprint for the week stands at:
Total Plastic Waste: 2,769 pieces
Usage Breakdown:
It's sobering to note that only 19% of our plastic waste will be recycled within the UK, while a significant portion will either be exported, sent to landfill, or incinerated. This highlights the urgent need for action to address plastic pollution and move towards a more sustainable, reusable-based economy.
We believe that our collective efforts as part of our courageous advocacy will contribute to the push for a Global Plastic Treaty. This treaty aims to address plastic pollution on a global scale and advocate for policies that promote a reduction in single-use plastics.
Our next steps involve reaching out to our local MP to seek their support for this crucial action. By engaging with policymakers, we hope to amplify our voices and enact meaningful change in our community and beyond.
Once again, thank you for your unwavering commitment to creating a cleaner, greener future for generations to come.
Genesis 2:15 says "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." We recognize that all created things belong to God and that we are accountable to Him as stewards of the creation.
