Another week has flown right on by in the busy world of Year2.
In English this week, we completed our hot write meeting tales. I was so impressed that we all managed to include commas in a list, adjectives and even some speech marks. They read just like stories, well done! We also spent time focusing upon SPaG. We corrected lots of spelling mistakes throughout the week.
In Maths, we started our new unit on multiplication and division. We spoke about the vocabulary and got straight into our unit. We looked at groups of and were able to spot equal and unequal groups. We were able to complete lots of stem sentences and quickly moved onto writing number equations by the end of the week. Remember to keep practising on TTRS to improve your times table recall.
In Reading and Phonics we continued to recap key sounds, spellings and practised our comprehension skills throughout the week. You all continued to read well at home and I'm blown away by the amazing book reviews you continue to be leaving!
We continued our new unit in Science this week which focuses upon animals including humans. We focused upon life cycles and thought about the different stages of both human and animal lives. We used a frog to explain the different stages, whilst we also thought about what humans can do at each different life cycle stage. Well done, team!
On Wednesday,we took part in our fifth Forest School session. We braved the weather and got stuck into our learning! We spent times planning and creating our very own shelters for our superhero characters. We thought about the design, shape and purpose of our shelters. We worked so well in our teams throughout the session. We also built on our fire building skills. We made mini hashtags fires and were even able to toast marshmallows over them.
We had P.E on Friday. Hayley was very impressed with us all as we all continued to practise our throwing, catching and shooting skills. We are becoming more confident each week.
In R.E, we continued our unit. We discussed the big question of "What does the visit of the Magi tell us about Jesus?" once more. We learnt all about the three kings, their names and the gifts they gave. We discussed why each gift was given and the importance of them. Well done!
In Computing this week, we completed the start of our project and spentsome time on unplugged coding. On Thursday, we were introduced to our project app, Kahoot. We learnt all about how to build our quizzes. We used skills including inputting, typing and question building. We even had a chance to play some at the end of the lesson. I can't wait to continue our project next week. On Friday, we completed an unplugged activity based around a Christmas tree. We had to use coding language to programme our partners to draw exactly that we were drawing. We did really well with our language and instructions!
Have a fantastic Sunday!
