Welcome To Year 5

It was wonderful to welcome you all back to school on Thursday. We have had a wonderful first two days together, and you have already impressed me with your enthusiasm, kindness and team work. I have a feeling this is going to be a great year.

During our first two days, you were introduced to our new topic... the Victorians. For Big Art, we looked at a collection of portraits of Queen Victoria and learnt that she was the first British monarch to be photographed. We then started our Big Art project. For this term, we will be recreating the portraits ourselves. Each of us will be doing a small section which will be put together to make the final piece. So far, we have practiced our colour mixing skills and started drawing.

We have also written to our future selves to share our goals and dreams for Year 5. We will read our letters at the end of the year to see to see if we have achieved them. We have also measured ourselves so we can see how much we have changed physically too.
