Thank you Reception Class for another fantastic week.

You have all been very busy creating and making alongside completing all your learning tasks, you have made a very proud teacher.

Let's share our learning...

In our mathematical development, we have explored the concept of spatial awareness, learning new vocabulary to describe the position of objects from different viewpoints. Teddy has been very busy this week as you have positioned him around the classroom to show him; on, below, above, under, at the side, behind and in front of furniture. We understand that you cannot see things behind you without altering your position, by turning your head or your body. Once confident with this concept we moved onto our next steps of describing movement using positional language to describe a route taken by the different Power Maths characters. Great maths work Reception.

In our physical development, we performed our class dance 'The Nutcracker' which we have been working hard on as part of our learning about movement and dance. We even had some special guest audience members, thank you to Mrs Chesters, Mrs Hughes and Mrs Beresford for coming to watch our performance!

In our communication and language development, we have continued to share Christmas stories from our advent book presents from under our Christmas tree. We have enjoyed listening to some favourite like Stick Man where we have been able to join in with the repetitive nature of the text and some new stories about friendship and kindness at this special time of year.

In our personal, social and emotional development, Boris taught us that we are good listeners when we look at the person speaking and listen to what they have to say.

Boris says 'There are lots of great things about me.

In our understanding the world development, we completed our learning on the concept of Incarnation and our exploration of why Christians perform Nativities at Christmas. We understand that they like to remind people about the birth of Jesus and he was a gift to the world from God. We are very proud of the little Nativity story books we have made, where we have retold the story in our own words. We are very excited to share our nativity story with our families on Tapestry, we hope you enjoy watching it as much as we have enjoyed making it.

In our literacy development, we have written sentences to accompany our nativity story, explaining what is happening at different stages of the story. It has been our biggest writing job so far, so we have done a section each day. It has been lovely to see how much our writing has come along since staring school. Fabulous effort Reception!

In our expressive arts and design development, we learnt to sing some new winter songs in our music session. We have also carefully illustrated our nativity stories, which look lovely.

Have a super weekend and I will see you all next week for an exciting week of Christmas activities.
A quick reminder we are watching Sleeping Beauty pantomime on Tuesday, eating Christmas dinner on Wednesday and have a fun filled Christmas party on Friday.
