PE News 5.11.21

Welcome back to Autumn 2! We're moving indoors for PE this half term, starting next week, which is so exciting as we haven't been able to do indoor PE for a while!
It has been a strange week, not everyone has been able to do PE with me, however, all classes will be doing an extra PE session either with Sports Coaching or Chance to Shine. We will return to normal next week!
Years 1 and 2 started their new gymnastics units. Year 1 worked on mats and small apparatus and focussed on walking with balance and control, lifting our knees high then extending our legs out and pointing our toes. We then moved on to adding in turns while keeping control of our movements.
Year 2 used the same apparatus but looked at different styles of jumps, straight, tuck and straddle. We also tried to use 90, 180, 270 and 360 degree turns in our jumps. Again, we focussed on control and body shape as well as power in our jumps.
Years 3 and 4 completed Autumn 1, invasion games skills, by putting all of the skills we learnt into creating our own games. It was wonderful to see so much improvement and some creative ideas on show!
