What a super second week back we've had!

We have continued with our dance units.

Year 1 were introduced to the Cha Cha Slide as a warm up. We then explored how our bodies moved, from small parts like nose, eyes, finger and toes, to big parts like arms, legs and hips. We also looked at change our speed to follow the music, as it goes fast and slow and also our height as it goes higher and lower.

Year 2 began our dance unit on Space by following a Journey into Space. We became astronauts and prepared to launch before blasting off into space where we started to see some planets. We'll continue our journey next week!

Year 3 began our dance unit by brainstorming Roman words and ideas on to a mind map. We then picked three or more ideas and turned them into movements, each movement performed to a count of 4 or 8. At the end of the lesson we showed our wonderful dances to the rest of the class.

Year 4 and 5 continued our Vikings and Victorians dance. We recapped on last week's mind map and picked several ideas that were our favourites. We then looked at how we could create a motif to a count of 32 or 36. Most of us decided to choose 4 actions and perform each to a count of 8, whilst others used a mix of 4 and 8 counts to add more actions. We then performed our short dances to the rest of the class. Our audience had to watch carefully to see which actions we were performing and what count we used for our actions.

Year 6 continued the Charleston as part of World War II. We recapped the tutorial, from last week, that taught us the basic Charleston step as well as the puppet, kick and swing arm movements and we remembered the positions we were dancing in. We added a switch-a-roo so that we could repeat the dance after swapping positions with someone else. We finished with a quick introduction to the basic steps of the Waltz.
