Last week saw another busy week fly by in Year 4... (Sorry about the upside down pictures! Please adjust your eyes/position of your head...)

In Maths, we moved onto our addition and subtraction unit. We spent time looking at key vocabulary such as "exchanging and columns". We answered lots of fluency and reasoning questions through the week, whilst all the while using our column addition method to help us.

In English, we entered our innovation stage. We used our 3 targets to ensure our diaries were fantastic. We used the main example to help and guide us, whilst adding in our own spellings, fronted adverbials and paragraphs to create our own forest survival diaries. We will write these up for Study Work next week.

During Book Club, we spent time reading aloud, changing our books and answering read response questions. The reading diaries are looking fantastic with lots of book reviews and recording been done throughout the week.

In Forest School last week, we focused upon our archery skills and shelter building skills once more. We showed of our skills by securing cord, pegging our tarps and designing our own shelters. We also improved our archery scores and were able to perfect our aim!

In History last week, we continued our investigations into Mt Everest. We had a brilliant time researching the interesting question of "Who summited Mt Everest first?" We learnt all about George Mallory and his expeditions, we used timelines to pinpoint his ascent and possible descent of the mountain. What do you believe?
We used an evidence based approach to decide whether it was George Mallory in 1924 or in fact (as most people believe) Edmund Hillary in 1953. We researched all the details and came up with our conclusions!

In P.E, the weather meant that we had to do our session indoors. We started by designing our own invasion games – complete with rules, diagrams and explanations. We then spent the rest of the session completing a Minecraft yoga activity. We all demonstrated excellent listening skills and superb agility.

On Thursday and Friday, Miss Holland and Mrs Jenkins took over to help with our learning. We completed healthy eating posters and became column addition experts by making videos explaining the process. We used the iPads to improve our TTROCKSTARS scores. Whilst we also wrote about our Forest School adventures.

What a busy old week!
