Happy Friday Year 2! Another week has passed and you have made me a proud teacher again! There has been lots of learning going on this week!
Last week in maths we started the week with some subtraction calculations, specifically taking two digit numbers from two digit numbers. Then we continued our work on money. You have completed some Power maths, made your own shops, played money games and solved money problems. I have been impressed and I especially loved seeing all of your shops! This week in maths, you have been division detectives solving lots of division problems, showing me in pictures your workings out and you even solved them hidden in word problems. I gave lots of head teachers awards out for great maths!
In English Last week you read stories to me, telling me your favourite stories and why, writing your own blurbs, practising the year 2 common exception words and then challenging yourself to put them into sentences. This week, we have focused on celebrations. You have written your favourite celebrations and how you celebrate them and you have found out about a different celebration and presented it in lots of ways. We had posters, fact files, interviews and powerpoints. Thank you Year 2!
In addition to this, you have been listening to chapters of The Enchanted Wood, Quick Quack Quentin by Kes Gray read by me and Oliver's Vegetables which Mrs Parker read to you! I have loved hearing all of your reading too. I have put them all together so you can enjoy hearing each other Read different stories. So far we have enjoyed a story by Eden and Max, I wonder who will read to us next week!
I have enjoyed seeing some of your afternoon activities this week too. Last week, lots of you were planting in the garden and also learning about healthy and unhealthy foods. This week, I have been painting, colouring and inventions. Thank you for sharing your fantastic learning with me.
Have a lovely weekend, let's hope the sun is shining at some point. Thank you for your hard work and I will see you virtually on Monday!
