This week we've been newspaper reporters, digital mymappers and super scientists...

In Book Club this week we continued to read aloud, swap books and answer questions. On Thursday it was time to dress up for World Book Day – you all looked amazing! We completed and created word searches and even had a parade in the afternoon to show off our costumes! Take a look at them...

In Maths this week we started our new unit on measurement. On Monday we recapped previous learning and discussed cm and m. We put lots of the important info on our working wall. We measured throughout the week using rulers and meter sticks too! By Wednesday we were converting lengths from cm to mm and even measurements such as 3m 56cm to 356cm. We used this knowledge on Friday to add lengths together! Next week we will look at subtracting lengths and using our skills to tackle word problems...
Times table and arithmetic quizzes were completed on Friday!

In English we started our T4W unit on newspapers. We recapped last week's learning and got straight to work on learning our new story. Throughout the week we retold 5 paragraphs complete with actions! We built the newspaper toolkit including opinions, speech marks, introductions, main story and much more! We also completed short burst writes including speech mark writing!
In SPaG this week we focused upon some of the Y3/4 spellings. We corrected spelling mistakes using green pens and the Y3/4 words stuck in the English books!

In Book Club this week we continued to read aloud, swap books and answer questions. On Thursday it was time to dress up for World Book Day – you all looked amazing! We completed and created word searches and even had a parade in the afternoon to show off our costumes! Take a look at them...

In Computing this week we continued with our green screen projects. We once again used the app doINK to create layers. We used small world characters to represent news reporters and green paper as our screen. We screenshotted and cropped newsroom pictures via Safari and added them to our greenscreen app. Check it out!

In Music this week we continued to listen to music and write about how it makes us feel in the brand new music books. We also researched the life of Ludwig Beethoven. Well done!

In Geography this week we continued to use digital programmes to build our world map knowledge. We used my maps to use a range of tools to locate, map and measure the Viking invasions from Scandinavia. They're looking great! On Friday we worked with Mrs Jenkins to find Anglo Saxon place-name towns. We used the atlases to locate the different towns and their meanings!

In Science we continued our investigations into plants! We talked about the pollination process and thought about what this was. We watched videos, labelled flowers and next week will become the pollinators ourselves. There's lots of exciting science experiments planned for next week!

In R.E we continued to explore the story of Adam and Eve. We were introduced to 'hot seating'. We each thought of questions we would like to ask both Adam and Eve and linked these questions to the messages behind the story.

In French we continued to look at clothes and their french translations. We worked hard to pronounce 'un and une' correctly and now know that French words can be female and male!

During Mindful Monday this week our focus was all about stretching. We took some calm time before the daily mile to focus and stretch ourselves – it was also a good opportunity to recap our work on skeletons!

Throughout the week we continued our daily mile, keep it up, Y3!
