We have continued to have a fabulous learning week! I am so
sad that next week will be last week with you all.

In English this week you have wrote your own space stories.
You changed your characters and the moontree and created your own version of ‘Bob
and the moontree mystery’. In your stories you have focused on using a wide
range of different words that have suffixes on the end. Your stories are a
delight to read!

In maths this week you have continued to learn about
fractions. You found a ½, 1/3 and ¼ of different amounts.

In steps to read this week, you focused on two different poems.
The first poem was all about a shadow and the second poem was all about a
spider trying to persuade a fly to come into his web so he can eat him. You
enjoyed answering comprehension questions about both poems.

In geography, you have continued to learn about Kenya. This
week we looked at the physical and human features that are found in Kenya. You
really enjoyed using the ipads in this session to look at Africa and Kenya on
google earth.

In computing this week you continued to focus on pictograms.
You went on a bug hunt and created a tally chart of all the bugs you found. You
then created a digital pictogram on your ipads to show how many bugs you got.

In art this week, you had so much fun listening to different
animal sound and thinking about what instrument would represent the animal. You
then combined a Kenyan animal and instrument and drew them together to create
an animal orchestra. What fun this was!

In DT, you had lots of fun thinking about which shape is
more stable to build a tower out of. We started by experimenting how books a
cuboid, triangular prism and a cylinder could hold. We found out that the cylinder
could hold more as the cuboid and triangular prisms just crushed with 1 book on
top. We found out that this is because these shapes have got corners which
makes them weaker because the corners try to hold the weight and end up crushing.
You then created your own cylinders out of paper and tested to see how many books
all of our cylinders could hold together. They ended up holding a whopping 63!
We were so excited as we only guessed that it would hold 10.

In PE this week you have been building upon your dancing
skills with Coach Beth and your jumping skills with me.

In science this week, you have been continuing to learn
about animals and humans. You found out that each animal has a life cycle. Some
life cycles are more complicated than others like a frog and butterfly. We
looked at their cycles in more depth!

This week you took part in a CDAT Easter service where we
zoomed in with other schools in our cluster. We read parts of the bible and
joined in with prayers and songs. It was so lovely to see the other schools in
our trust.

We were also busy learning more about E safety and the
importance of not taking pictures of other people without consent.

You also completed lots of assessments for Maths and
reading. I am so proud of your progress Year Two. Keep shining like the
superstars you are.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Haynes
