Year 6 Weekly News 16.1.26

This week has flown by, and we have packed so much into it. You have worked hard in many different areas of
your learning, and I am so proud of you all.

We began our week by completing our Bikeability level two course which saw us venturing into the village on our bikes. Back in school, we have continued our learning. We have been:

• finding common denominators with proper fractions and mixed numbers and then using a number line to add andsubtract them in Maths

• finding out about Charles Darwin’s early life in book club

• learning about silent letters in spellings

• completing our newspaper reports and entering them into our author books in english

• sharing our dance moves in PE

• assessed in our final Thrive PE session

• continuing to play our glockenspiels in music

• using Scratch to change a game in computing

• making Stone Age shelters including lighting our own fires in Forest Schools

This week in Geography, we have learned about four- and six-figure grid references and practised our skills by locating a capybara on a grid. We also explored water resources, revisiting water supply issues in the Kent region and learning about water distribution around the world. We finished by sharing ideas on how we can conserve water at home and at school. Our pictures this week share this learning.
