A jam-packed week of learning
has taken place in Year 6, we haven’t had a moment to spare! I am so proud of
each and every one of you.
In Maths, we’ve continued our ratio and proportion learning. We
have used comparison tables and bar models to deepen our understating. We will
continue with this unit next week. We finished the week by tackling a SATs reasoning
paper from 2022. Super work Year 6.
In English, we’ve analysed our model text and begun to think about
formal phrases.
The highlight of our week must be World Book Day. We began our day by reading
to our buddies before enjoying our own story – The Rabbits. We considered the meaning
of this story and what impact this had on the characters. We created word
banks, answered comprehension questions and then created a piece of narrative
writing from the perspective of a chosen character. We then went on to complete
a piece of artwork on coffee-stained paper to end our day.
Other learning opportunities that we’ve enjoyed over our week have been…
PE, RE, French, Science, Computing, Geography, PSHE, Archbishop Young Leaders Award,
Wellbeing, Spellings, Book Club and DT. We have even found time to spend with
our favourite buddies. A very busy week. I’m sure you will agree.
I have set Maths homework to reflect our fraction starter work. Please
could you encourage your child to keep up to date as there are some outstanding
tasks and each one greatly supports our classwork.
Have a wonderful weekend.
