Year 6 News 25th September 2026

Happy Friday Team!

What a busy and exciting week we have had in Year 6! We have continued reading The Man Who Walked Between the Towers and have loved getting to know Philippe. We have written character descriptions, thinking carefully about how Philippe felt and imagining what he could see, hear and smell as he prepared to walk between the towers. In Maths, we have been looking at place value and recapping some of the areas we have found a little tricky, working hard to strengthen our understanding. In PE, we have been developing our kicking skills and played a fun game of ‘Corners’, where we used our accuracy and teamwork to score points. In Computing, we have been learning about collaborating with pictures and exploring how we can work together creatively. In Art, we have continued scaling up our artwork using the grid method and have started adding collage materials to give our positive space more detail and texture. In Science, we have continued learning about electricity, looking at volts and practising drawing electrical circuits. In RE, we have been exploring journeys and life journeys, discussing how Christians have different journeys and experiences from those of people who follow other religions. We have also been busy preparing to welcome our new starters! We have been practising our New Starters Service with our Reception buddies and have loved spending time with them in the Reception garden. It has been lovely to see our Year 6 children being such kind and caring role models, and we cannot wait to welcome our new starters properly next week!

For our homework, children have been set Maths activities on Maths.co.uk to help consolidate our learning in class. We would also like children to keep practising their times tables on TTRockstars and continue reading regularly at home. We are also encouraging children to review their challenge books and reflect on their reading, thinking about what they have enjoyed, what they have learned and any new vocabulary they have come across.  I have added the link:
