Year 6 News 18.9.26
Happy Friday Team!
What a busy and exciting week Year 6 have had! This week, we finished reading Mayor Bunny’s Chocolate Town and put our persuasive skills to the test! We worked hard to convince people that they would want to move to Coop Town, thinking carefully about all the wonderful things our town has to offer. On Thursday, things took a rather mysterious turn! We discovered some strange items in our classroom, including a French passport, a rope and a blueprint of the Twin Towers. We have started creating a found poster in the hope of finding the owner and uncovering the story behind these mysterious objects! In math, we have been working on positioning 7-digit numbers on a range of number lines and scaled number lines. We have also been developing our understanding of rounding numbers to a required degree of accuracy, applying our knowledge to a range of different problems. In PE, we looked at our kicking and passing skills, practising passing the ball accurately between one another. We finished our lesson with a game of Line Ball, where we put our skills and teamwork to the test! In RE, we created our own life maps, thinking about the important parts of our lives and the people, places and experiences that have helped shape us. It was lovely to see everyone reflecting on the things that are meaningful to them. In Science, we looked at the symbols used to represent components of electrical circuits. We explored the different symbols and how they are used when drawing circuit diagram. We also had a lovely time with our buddies, enjoying sharing stories and reading together. It was wonderful to see the children enjoying their books and being such fantastic reading role models. We continued with our art project, developing our ideas further and building on the work we have completed so far. We are looking forward to seeing our finished pieces!
Another fantastic week of learning, creativity, teamwork and a little bit of mystery! I am incredibly proud of how hard Year 6 have worked this week.
