Year 6 News 16th October 2026

Happy Friday Team!

What a busy week we have had in Year 6! In English, we have been working hard on persuasive letters, thinking carefully about what we would need to say to convince someone that we are the right person for a job. In PE, we have continued developing our kicking skills and are excited to put these into practice with some games next week. In RE, we explored what Jerusalem means to Jewish people, watching a video about a young girl visiting Jerusalem on a pilgrimage and discussing how it might feel to finally visit somewhere you have dreamed of seeing your whole life. We also explored why the Western Wall, or Wailing Wall, is such an important place for Jewish people. In Science, we experimented with changing the number of cells in an electrical circuit and observed the effect this had on our bulbs. In PSHE, we discussed commitment and marriage before working together to try and untangle ourselves in a fun teamwork challenge! During AYLA, we took part in a range of teamwork challenges, including the line and cup challenges, which required excellent communication and cooperation. In Computing, we explored different types of communication, considering whether they are public or private, what can be shared, whether communication is one-way or two-way and the age limits for different platforms. We also had a fabulous time spending time with our buddies. Finally, in History, we stepped back in time to experience what life might have been like during an air raid in the Second World War. We got into our shelter and thought carefully about what it would have been like for children living through the Blitz before writing diary entries from their perspective. We also explored how the Blitz affected different cities. What a fantastic week of learning, teamwork and new experiences!
