Year 5 Weekly News 02.10.26

Happy Friday, Year 5!

What a lovely week we’ve had! There has been lots going on, but our wow moment has to be our Harvest work. We explored the Bible story of The Rich Fool from Luke 12:16–21 and thought carefully about the choices the rich man made. We discussed why Harvest is not only a time to be thankful for what we have, but also a time to think about sharing with and caring for others. You then used these ideas to inspire some beautiful Harvest artwork. Your finished pieces look fantastic!

In Maths, we moved on to scaled number lines and learnt how to work out the value of each interval before placing numbers accurately. We have also started learning about rounding. A really important part of this has been identifying the multiple before and the multiple after a number.  This will help us decide which one it is closest to. You’ve worked hard with this new skill and are becoming more confident already.

In English, the planning is over and the writing has begun! You’ve started writing your own stories inspired by The Little Island, and they are already shaping up brilliantly. It has been wonderful to see so many of the writing skills we’ve practised appearing naturally in your work. Keep it up, Year 5!

Alongside all of this, you’ve also been busy with Spelling, Reading, Art, PE, Music and PSHE.
