Year 5 News 26.06.26

It has been another brilliant week in school this week. Even though it has been warmer than usual, you have all worked extremely hard and taken on your assessments with confidence. 

In English, we have explored all of the writer's knowledge within the example text. We have also written instructions for packing a survival tin – in the hope this inspires some ideas for our theme day. 

In maths, we have moved on to learn about angles on a straight line, properties of rectangles and regular and irregular shapes. 

We have also completed all of our end of unit assessments for spag, reading, spelling and maths this week. 

Our wow wonderful moment this week has been our Science experiment this week. We have coducted an experiment to see which solids dissolve. We learnt about these substances becoming a solution and how some materials are soluble or insoluble. We tested sand, salt, sugar, coffee granuals, flour and rice. We enjoyed conducting the experiment and recording our results. 

Throughout the week, we have also enjoyed PE lesson, computing, music, wellbeing, history, a heartsmart PSHE lesson and DT. 

Maths.co.uk homework has been set for this week.
