Year 5 News 24.04.26

These week are flying by!

In English, we have moved on to outcome 2. We are aiming to write a bargain letter to persuade someone to plant the stolen acorns. In maths, we have continued to learn about fractions. Our focus has been on converting between improper and mixed number fractions, finding fractions of amounts and then finally adding fractions with different denominators. 

Our wow moment this week has been welcoming Bill and Jenni into class for our moss session. This week, we explored owl pelltets. We learnt about barn owls and their important contributions and impact on nature. In groups, we then worked to investgate the diet of these barn owls. We found many amazing bones and skulls and were able to indentify what a barn owls eat!

Throughout the week, we have also enjoyed our two PE lessons, music, Science, Heartsmart, History, Computing, DT, Art and RE.

Maths.co.uk homework has been set for this week. We are also finding that our fraction work is requiring lots of times table knowledge and have asked the children to log on to TT Rockstars at home across the week.
