Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fantastic and eventful week we have had in Year 3!
Despite the unexpected power cut in the village, we adapted
brilliantly and were still able to perform our Easter service in school for
parents and carers. We are incredibly proud of the children – all of their hard
work truly paid off. They remembered their lines, spoke with clarity and
expression, and sang beautifully. It was a wonderful performance, and we hope
you enjoyed it as much as we did.
In Maths, we have now concluded our topic on multiplication and
division. The children have worked extremely hard and shown great progress. We
are looking forward to beginning our new topic on money after the Easter
holidays.
This week, the children also completed their reading and maths
assessments. We are delighted to see the excellent progress they have made
since the autumn term – well done to everyone!
In Science, we had great fun investigating how shadows are formed.
We explored the key vocabulary: transparent, translucent, and opaque. The
children then took their learning outside, using their bodies and various
objects to create shadows on the playground. We discovered that the darkest
shadows are formed by opaque objects, as light cannot pass through them. The
children even used chalk to draw around their shadows – a fun and engaging way
to deepen their understanding.
In Design and Technology, we designed prototypes for wearable
technology that would help someone be visible at night. The children showed
great creativity and thoughtfulness, annotating their designs with clear and
detailed explanations.
Today, we also say goodbye to Miss Summerfield. She has been a
wonderful addition to our class and has delivered so many engaging and
memorable lessons throughout the spring term. The children have greatly enjoyed
learning with her, and she has made a lasting impact on Year 3. We would like
to say a heartfelt thank you for everything she has done, and we wish her all
the very best for the future.
It has been a wonderful week of learning, creativity, and
resilience. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
We hope you have a wonderful Easter, enjoying time with family and
friends and having a well-deserved rest.
Kind regards,
Mrs Roney and Miss Summerfield.
