Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a fantastic immersive week in Year 3 and we are very
proud of all the children’s hard work.

This week, we completed our narrative writing inspired by The Scarab’s
Secret by Nick Would. The children have worked incredibly hard to
plan, draft and edit their stories, and we are so proud of their finished
pieces. They have shown great creativity and enthusiasm throughout the process.

On Tuesday, we thoroughly enjoyed our Ancient Egyptian themed day.
The children took part in a range of exciting activities that brought our
learning to life. They created their own cartouches using clay and carefully
inscribed them with their names written in hieroglyphics.

We also explored what people in Ancient Egypt might have eaten by
taste-testing a variety of foods, including olives, cooked lentils, honey,
pomegranate, melon, dates, flatbread and grapes. The children then discussed
and decided whether these foods would have been eaten by pharaohs and wealthy
citizens or by slaves.

In addition, we learned about the mummification process. The
children had great fun working in teams to see who could wrap a “mummy” the
most effectively—there was lots of laughter and excellent teamwork on display!

We have also begun practicing for our Easter service alongside
Year 4. Please encourage your child to learn their lines at home in preparation
for the service, which will take place at the church next Thursday morning.

It has been a wonderful week of learning, and we are incredibly
proud of the children’s enthusiasm and effort.

Thank
you for your continued support.Have a wonderful weekend.

Mrs Roney
and Miss Summerfield.
